Talking football
Supports: Manchester United
Most likes them to beat: At the moment beating Arsenal is very satisfying, but it does not have the history like the rivalry with Liverpool.
Apart from United, would most like to play for: Palermo have a great kit, but AC Milan would be my first choice. My first football memories were how they dominated Europe, and Serie A is the best/most passionate league in the world.
Favourite player ever: When I was younger it was Peter Schmeichel, but now Paul Scholes is such a delight to watch. Perhaps the most gifted player in my generation, it has been amazing growing up and seeing him progress through the years.
Favourite goal ever: Ole Gunnar's against Bayern München in the 99 Champions League Final. It was made that much sweeter as this time William could not punch me when they scored.
Favourite goal celebration: St. James' Park, 2003 - Newcastle United 2-6 Manchester United. Dyer had told a newspaper he wanted Scholes' place in the England side. Scholes seals his hat trick and celebrates with an impudent lolling tongue, by doing so Man U nudge closer to Arsenal in the league and Scholes proves he is a world class talent.
Best match attended: I've never been to a brilliant game, but the 0-0 draw between Norwich and Rotherham was very inspiring.
Best football kit in history: Manchester United's black away strip [from the mid-90s].
Nightmare eleven: They are either rubbish, overpaid or irritate me to death. In Joe Cole's case, all the above.

GK - Massimo Taibi
FB - Ashley Cole
FB - Paulo Ferreira
CB - Winston Bogarde
CB - Titus Bramble
M - Joe Cole
M - Salif Diao
M - Finidi George
M - Juan Sebastian Veron
S - Trevor Benjamin
S - Dario Silva

Manager: Howard Wilkinson

Greatest football memory: Man U winning the Champions League in 1999.
Lowest football memory: Going out of Euro 2000. It was such an anti-climax after beating Germany and it was embarrassing how we deserved to be thrashed by Romania.
Playing career: Old Catton FC, 1994-98. Double winners 96/97.
Atletico Swiftsword, 2001-

CULTURAL PREFERENCES
Favourite TV programme: It would be 'Sex and the City', but this is the culture section. In this event, I have chosen 'Six Feet Under'.
Favourite film: 'A Night at the Opera' - original anarchic comedy by The Marx Brothers, supplemented by Groucho's one-liners.

'Touch of Evil' - Orson Welles' best film, and also contains the best opening shot in history. See it, laugh at Welles' form, but appreciate how beautifully it is shot.

'Saturday Night & Sunday Morning' - 60s kitchen sink drama. Me and Mum stayed up late one Sunday night to watch it, so that helps my feelings towards it. Depressing storyline, but Albert Finney is hilarious and equally tough in performance.

'Night of the Hunter' - 50s film about a revengeful priest murdering a family to get the inheritance left by their ex-con father.

Favourite book: 'The Outsider' by Albert Camus - says so much in such little space.

'The Catcher in the Rye' by J.D. Salinger - 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off', but more edgy and 30 years earlier.

'The Old Man and the Sea' by Ernest Hemingway - short story that follows a man fishing, but is an allegory of society.

Favourite music group/artist: Pavement - so good I cannot explain why I like them.
Top 10 albums: 1) 'Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain' - Pavement
2) 'London Calling' - The Clash
3) 'Up the Bracket' - The Libertines
4) 'Low' - David Bowie
5) 'Slanted & Enchanted' - Pavement
6) 'Clouds Taste Metallic' - The Flaming Lips
7) 'Pink Moon' - Nick Drake
8) 'The Earth is not a Cold Dead Place' - Explosions in the Sky
9) 'Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea' - PJ Harvey
10) 'Madonna' - ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead
Underrated/overrated albums: Underrated: 'Diamond Dogs' - David Bowie
His first album after Bowie lost the Ziggy façade is as equally powerful and catchy as previous works, but his alienation that comes across is what makes this one of his best works to date.

Overrated: 'Aladdin Sane' - David Bowie
Studio album before 'Diamond Dogs'. To me this album is carried by 'The Jean Genie' and it seems a little short on new ideas to be held up as a classic. I recommend it only if you are an actual Bowie fan.

Best gig/festival attended: The Flaming Lips at Birmingham Academy, 17th January, 2003.

PHILOSOPHIES
6 things to consign to Room 101: 1) BNP
2) People leaving the toilet seat up.
3) Having to be nice to people you don't like.
4) Thick tomato sauce on pizzas.
5) Ugg boots
6) Leg warmers - they simply make women look stupid.
Favourite snack: Eggs? (scrambled or poached). Otherwise, cereals, especially Ricicles. Two thumbs up!
Dream job: Lots of pay with minimum effort (like Hernan Crespo), or some kind of writer.
Political persuasion: Anything Green.
First act as world leader: Get rid of Sepp Blatter then resign, after using the bathroom.
Motto: "Shared joy makes a friend, not compassion." - Nietzsche
